TWS - Realistic Scheduling, Transient Ischemic Attacks, and ChatGPT

📝 Rx

Hi friends,

This is week 2 of being away from main campus and a new week means a new doctor for me. Last week went pretty well, but I've noticed I tend to over-schedule myself and then not meeting all my goals really throws me off.

Unfortunately, I'm not a robot (at least not until Neuralink really gets going) so keeping up a super tight schedule is rough.

This week I'm experimenting and being much more lenient with the time blocks. While the idea of titrating my calendar down is sort of upsetting because there's less goals to meet, I'm a fan of "less but better" so it's something that needs to be done.

🩻 Diagnosis of the Week:

Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)

What is it: A mini "stroke" that is temporary.

A TIA is when blood flow is limited to a part of the brain for enough time to cause issues, but not enough time to make those issues permanent.

This can happen for a few reasons, commonly some temporary blockage of an artery in the brain from a clot. Therefore, the biggest concern is usually having an actual stroke which then causes permanent damage.

In this context, a TIA can be taken as a warning to take a closer look at other things that could be going on and to watch out for clots in the future.

Key signs:

  • Sudden (temporary) sensory loss
  • Sudden (temporary) numbness
  • Sudden (temporary) paralysis
  • Sudden (temporary) weakness in a limb or muscle group
  • "Amaurosis Fugax" - fancy words for temporary vision loss

🤓 Dose of the Week

ChatGPT

This past week it's been made pretty clear that I've not been using A.I. like ChatGPT and others as effectively as possible.

I met someone who's more knowledgeable on the field and uses it extensively day to day so I've been convinced that I need to take a course on A.I. usage.

I'm thinking most people (including me) think they are slightly above average on using A.I. day to day, but that doesn't mean to disregard taking it more seriously.

I don't need to be an expert, but seeing someone who is using A.I. to such a greater degree than myself has been a shock.

If you're not looking into how to use A.I. more effectively, might be time to change your mind.
